Common Misconceptions about Evolution
Dr Dinesh Datta
25/12/2022
Abstract
Let's start with the Universe, I don't know how well-versed you are with the laws of thermodynamics. In a nutshell, they describe the relationship between different forms of energies in different states. There are some interesting elements of simplicity as well as complexity within those four laws and their implications. Between the twin extremes of simplicity and complexity, is where everything comes in. If you think about it, too much chaos can lead to anarchy, too much uniformity can lead to a dull and boring regularity. Of all the systems of thought, theories, hypothesis, and opinions, the most convincing theories come from the field of mathematics called Complexity Theory. Abstract
The precession of our planet is majorly influenced by Sun and Moon’s gravitational influence also known as Lunisolar Precession and minorly by other planets in our solar system. Due to this motion, the celestial pole precesses in 26,000 years. This precession causes pole stars to change every 2000 – 4000 years. Before we could understand which stars were the pole stars in the past, we must understand What a Pole Star is? What features distinguish a normal star from a pole star? A pole star is a position in the sky that is always in the polar direction. A North Pole star can be seen in the northern direction and similarly, a south pole star in the southern direction. As most of the older civilizations grew in the northern hemisphere we have much more knowledge and idea about the North Pole star. Still, we have less evidence of which star used to be the north pole star. Over here we tried to figure out the possible north pole star. So we took three considerations.
Global Warming by Chat GPT and UN Reports
Chat GPT
Abstract
Global warming, driven by increased greenhouse gas emissions, is a critical environmental issue causing the Earth's average temperature to rise. Major contributors include fossil fuel combustion, deforestation, and industrial activities. Consequences are widespread, affecting climate patterns, melting polar ice, rising sea levels, ocean acidification, biodiversity loss, and human health. Mitigation strategies focus on transitioning to renewable energy, reforestation, sustainable agriculture, carbon pricing, and resilient infrastructure. Technological innovations, such as clean energy technologies, carbon capture, and electric vehicles, are essential. Immediate global cooperation and action are vital to address this urgent challenge and ensure a sustainable future.
Grow Diamonds from scratch in 15 minutes
Joshua Hawkins
Abstract
Scientists have discovered a way to synthesize diamonds, and it doesn't even require a starter gem to get things going. The new technique can actually grow diamonds in normal atmospheric pressure, and it can do so in just 15 minutes. This crazy breakthrough is highlighted in a new study published in Nature at the end of April. According to the researchers involved, the new technique will eliminate several major drawbacks to the synthesis processes normally utilized to create diamonds. https://bgr.com/science/scientists-found-a-way-to-grow-diamonds-from-scratch-in-just-15-minutes/
Understanding RGB and BGR
Suparna Ghosh
Abstract
When working with images, it’s important to understand the difference between the RGB and BGR color spaces. Both RGB and BGR have three color channels: red, green, and blue. However, the order in which those channels are stored in the image file can be different. RGB is commonly used in image editing and display applications, where the order is assumed as red, green, and blue. On the other hand, BGR is often used in image processing applications, and the order is assumed blue, green, and red. Image data can be saved in different color spaces (RGB, BGR, Gray, etc.) and different file formats can save the image in different color spaces. It depends on the image processing library and software which color space they use while saving(or opening) an image. However, when saving an image to a file format, it is common practice to save it in the RGB color space. It’s worth noting that when you save an image in BGR order, it can be still read by most of the libraries and software, but they will treat it as an RGB image and will show it in RGB format. (You will see an image of the red and blue channels swapped)
