Abstract
Giza lies at the intersection of the world's lengthiest great circle (13642 km) and the world's lengthiest parallel over land (12734 km), a record set during the last ice age. Conveniently located near the Nile and a plentiful supply of limestone, the Great Pyramid has experienced little precipitation. In contrast, the Sphinx and its enclosure exhibits considerable erosion, much of it due to heavy rainfall.
